Best Photo Locations in San Francisco
In this post I'd like to recommend my most favorite locations in San Francisco, California. They are great for family, wedding, engagement, maternity, and portrait photography.
Baker Beach. This beach is located west of the Golden Gate Bridge and provides the most perfect view of it. I love it better than Crissy Field Beach, because it's much more natural, there are some bautiful rocks and trees there as well, and it's less crowded. The lighting is really great too, especially during the golden hour (1 hour before sunset).
Palace of Fine Arts Theatre is one my favorite locations in San Francisco. It's gorgeous, convenient, and provides a lot of photography options. It's also a great site for a wedding or elopement. The best time to shoot there is 1-2 hours before sunset, if you'd like to get such pictures:
Sutro Baths & Lands End. This area is really amazing and very unusual, but it's usually much colder and more windy than other locations. I love it closer to sunset as well, because nothing can beat that soft beautiful glow. Some beach photos are also available there, when the tide is low.
Stow Lake & Strawberry Hill. This is a pretty unusual location for San Francisco, because it looks like a forest. I love that it's conveniently located in the Golden Gate Park, there is a lot of shade which allows to shoot almost any time, and the parking is always available even on weekends. You can also rent a boat, which will make your session even more unique and fun!
Legion of Honor Museum reminds me of Paris and Rome, I highly recommend it for an egagement or wedding session. Light beige walls and lots of light help to achieve that bright and airy look. It's also located very close to Sutro Baths/Lands End, which works great, if you're interested in a 2-hour session.
Lovers' Lane would be my last pick on this list. It works great for any type of shoots, especially for Holiday cards pictures. It's a pretty place with lots of shade which is perfect if you can do a photo shoot only in the morning or afternoon.
Ocean Beach is usually much colder and more windy than Baker Beach, but I really love the sand dunes, that give Nordic/Scandinavian vibes. They look amazing in the pictures and the light is really great there from 9 am to 10 am and 2 hours before sunset. The beach is also very close to Sutro Baths and Golden Gate Park, which is great for a 2-hour session with 2 locations.
Thank you! Hope you will choose the best fit for you among these beautiful locations!
